League Leaders

Started by: kathpressey (5593)

Congratulations to Wigan on winning the league Leaders shield [has it changed shape from a round one?] . it was a great game and a tough battle but Wigan hung on. Great stuff! I thought Sky did well keeping us updated with other scores and the race for the top 6 too

Oh bugger! I thought the last games were tonight.... anyway congratulations to Wigan RL for getting the league leaders trophy, Leigh would have liked nothing better than to beat the old enemy, cos Saints were never going to lose their game, meaning they would've finished top.
Anyroad up Wigan have had their best season in a long time, well done to all concerned.

I too would like to offer my congratulations to the "WIGAN WARRIORS" and i think the second word sums up Wigan they are true WARRIORS!! In a hard fought match they were in control for most of it and they deservedly came out on top after a gruelling season ,which is not over just yet . TO round a perfect season would be to get to Old Trafford and clinch the last leg . Also a massive thank-you to the FANS for they have been extraordinarly brilliant for them too!!
I have one sour note to discuss and that was the "so-called skypundits "who could not "get over that Leigh's try was disallowed for an alledged obstruction! It took then a while to finally appreciate Wigan's performance , there is an old adage here ,which is ""You win some you lose some "" i believe overall everthings balanced out .

LEIGH WERE ROBBED...Never in a million years was that obstruction. Not like Wigan's disallowed try which was a blatant obstruction. How can it be right that the referee for this game lives in Wigan???

Brushing shoulders is not obstruction…both tries should have stood, except that if the Wigan try had stood,Leigh wouldn’t have had the ball!
It’s gerrin like RU!

Back on topic…Congratulations to Wigan on finishing top.

Whups Leigh are trying to take the gloss off Wigan winning the league and trying to make it all about themselves That Leopard mon is a bad loser.

The Leopard re-branding may be tacky in your opinion, but it appears to have made more impact in the selling of merchandise than the re-branding of Wigan and it's 'tired old looking Viking' badge on it's products.

Sad when you now see so many of our supporters wearing a retro shirt with the 'Ancient & Loyal ' crest rather than spend money on a new replica shirt.

Uncle Mo must be turning in his grave after saying a few seasons ago that Wigan supporters should be proud of showing the 'Ancient & Loyal' crest of the old Wigan Borough" on their shirts etc.

I say good luck to leigh, it works for them and they now have an above average side who is giving the town pleasure,
In my opinion wigan got away with one with the leigh obstruction try,

Then again you would do tiger,we know where your allegiances lay
However,I agree with you,it was a try in my opinion…so was the one early to Wigan…obstruction my arris
OC.. the last round but one was ‘retro round’.People were encouraged to wear old shirts
But I also agree about that vikings yed badge….terrible
The old Wigan board tried to change their badge to Progress with unity…The Gang of Four soon reversed that!

More supporters have been wearing the older traditional shirts since the awful new badge rebranding and not just when requested for one game!

I am one, wearing one with traditional red and white hoops and no advertising on it.

Look out for me in the Boston Stand!

French,Ellis and Hill all got one match bans..But due to there being a reserve team game, won’t miss the play off semi final.
It’s known as the Morgan Knowles loophole

More like a Whiehall farce!

If any player is suspended after committing an offence in a first team game, the suspension or suspensions should be carried out at the same level of Rugby!

Btw…this loophole is not new,and was in place well before the inception of super duper league.
On this occasion it suits Wigan.
Wonder if it was any other team than Wigan, weather it would get mentioned
Methinks not
